Leipziger Stadtwerke

Project Overview

Initial Situation

Germany wants to massively minimize its CO2 emissions: To this end, greenhouse gas reduction targets have been set in the Federal Climate Protection Act (as of August 2024). Accordingly, emissions are to be reduced by at least 65% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and by at least 88% by 2040. The heating sector has a central role to play here. The first heating plans are to be available in major cities by mid-2026 and in all other municipalities by mid-2028. This project is complex, but offers cities and municipalities a great opportunity to design urban agglomerations or make them robust and resilient.

Vision

The Leipzig City Council has commissioned the creation of a municipal heating plan that includes the development of decentralized solutions, the development of the district heating network and the conversion of heat generation structures to a climate-neutral supply. The aim is to supply citizens with climate-neutral heat by 2038. Leipzig has various energy-related options in the city area that can be used to supply heat. In addition to decentralized plants, potential in Leipzig and the surrounding area can also be used to feed into the central district heating network. The use of all options is part of our common path towards the decarbonization of Leipzig.

Solution

Leipziger Stadtwerke is now using AEP.EnergySuite as its central CRM platform. The solution, which is based on Microsoft Dynamics 365, makes it possible to precisely map the special requirements of the energy sector. The data model provided for utility companies also allows all relevant information to be managed efficiently.

In addition to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales product, the cloud-based marketing automation platform was developed to support digital marketing and sales processes in B2B sales in a holistic and largely automated manner. This enables Leipziger Stadtwerke to make its sales activities more efficient and contribute to achieving its climate targets.

Our Services

The experts from Arvato Systems implemented the AEP.EnergySuite based on Microsoft Dynamics 365, which provided a solid foundation for the specific requirements of the district heating division. Arvato Systems also took on the comprehensive consulting and customizing of the sales processes, enabling the solution to be optimally tailored to the needs of Leipziger Stadtwerke. In addition, the team developed the customized sales app to support the sales processes and implemented a client concept for the efficient administration of users and roles. The project was implemented in an agile manner based on the SCRUM approach. Intensive internal testing ensured that all functionalities ran smoothly and in line with requirements. Thanks to the preconfigured industry solution, getting started with Dynamics 365 was much quicker, as standard processes and templates for contact and company master data, activities such as emails and calls and sales opportunities were already available.

The introduction of the heating solution should be seen as the cornerstone for the development of a holistic, cross-media CRM solution for key account management. Leipziger Stadtwerke would like to use this basis to further expand its sales activities and create integrated processes for other business areas. This not only enables central management of all customer interactions, but also a holistic view of business relationships, which will promote a targeted approach and individual offers for their customers. Enhanced by specific customizations such as additional columns, forms and views, Stadtwerke Leipzig was able to digitize its sales processes quickly and efficiently in this way, while paving the way for a comprehensive CRM strategy.
