Project Overview

Initial situation

The consolidation of decentralized IT units in an insurance group and the establishment of a corporate IT department posed new challenges for this IT department, particularly in the area of workload automation. The challenge was to organize the batch processing of several independent clients for the new corporate IT. Different national companies were to be served separately, while new applications and platforms had to be integrated into the existing landscape. When selecting a workload automation solution, it was crucial to ensure both multi-client capability and the automation of numerous old and new applications.

Vision

Arvato Systems, as a long-standing partner and supplier, was Baloise's first point of contact when it came to workload automation. With Streamworks, the right solution for the new requirements was quickly found. Thanks to its rapid adaptability, the solution offers Baloise security with regard to current and future requirements. Streamworks was able to directly demonstrate the appropriate flexibility when integrating into the Baloise system landscape with a new interface to the central operations tool ZIS from Leutek GmbH and with an import function for JCL from software change management under CA Endevor.

Solution

Today, the batch specialists at Baloise use the multi-client capability of Streamworks to separate their national companies and obtain a central overview of all clients in a single view with a single login - naturally within the framework of a sophisticated authorization concept. In addition to controlling the typical insurance core IT processes on a large number of different platforms and applications, Streamworks is also used for typical IT operating processes such as the creation of Oracle database backups.

Up to the Challenge

The challenge of the project was to successfully integrate several independent clients in order to seamlessly integrate new applications and platforms into the existing system landscape. For this purpose, an innovative interface was developed that supports central monitoring and software change management on z/OS and at the same time enables data exchange with the central repository of msg systems AG and Avaloq. These measures make a decisive contribution to the efficient and flexible management of IT resources.

The result is a significant improvement in the efficiency and flexibility of Baloise's IT systems, manifested in the following points:

Significant flexibility when integrating into the existing system landscape.
High degree of automation leads to significant time and cost savings.
Multi-client capability enables efficient management of different business areas.
Central overview of all clients in a single view improves transparency and control.
Sophisticated authorization concept ensures controlled and secure access to sensitive data and functions.
Optimized and future-proof management of IT resources as a whole.
